Overview

F18 FBPA (4-Borono-2-[18F]fluoro-L-phenylalanine) is a radiolabeled phenylalanine analog used as a diagnostic imaging agent in positron emission tomography (PET). It is specifically designed to target the L-type amino acid transporter 1 (LAT1), which is frequently overexpressed in various malignant solid tumors. By mimicking a natural amino acid, the tracer accumulates preferentially in tumor cells, allowing for high-contrast visualization of tumor distribution and metabolic activity. Heron Neutron Medical Corp. is developing this agent to evaluate its safety and diagnostic performance in patients with solid tumors, particularly to assist in screening and treatment planning for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT).
